Notes
The Reef on Tiree, which had been the site of an earlier civilian airstrip, was requisitioned by the Ministry of War in 1940 and RAF Tiree was officially opened in November 1941. They left in 1961? And it became a civilian airport under the Board of Trade and in 1975 control was passed to the Civil Aviation Authority and finally in 1978 to the Highlands and Islands Airports.
The Airport Fire Service consists of a Sub Officer and Leading Firefighter both fulltime and four part time firefighters.
