Leading Firefighter Garry Telfer died of a heart attack at a car fire in Dumfries on Tuesday the 17th of July 2007.

Colleagues tried to resuscitate the
married father-of-three, but were unsuccessful and he was taken to hospital. He
was later pronounced dead.

A Firefighter has died after collapsing while
attending a fire.
Garry Telfer, 42, a former Queen of the South, player, took ill suddenly while
tackling a car fire in Dumfries on Tuesday night. Colleagues tried to
resuscitate him until paramedics arrived and took him by ambulance to Dumfries
Infirmary where he was later pronounced dead.
Mr Telfer joined the fire service in 1990. During his football career he had two
spells with Queen of the South and also played for Dalbeattie Star.
Mr Telfer who lived at Lochfoot, is survived by his wife Lynda and his daughters
Claire, Kristy and Jenna.
