Ardyne Point (McAlpine's)

Ardyne Point was a construction yard for concrete oil platforms on the shores of Loch Striven south west of Dunoon between 1974 and 1978. It was run by Sir Robert McAlpine.

In the mid 1970's when the yard was in full swing it had its own full time fire service and private ambulance set-up.

The small core of full time station staff was supplemented by workers from the yard, who attended for training on a regular basis.

They had at least two appliances one being a Bedford and they were kept along with the Ambulance.
