David Innes died as the result of a fall during a Rescue Drill at Laurieston Fire Station on the 31st January, 1923
EDINBURGH FIREMAN'S DEATH
As the result of an unfortunate occurrence yesterday forenoon at the
headquarters of the Edinburgh Fire Brigade, Fireman David Innes (28) received
injuries to which he succumbed in Chalmer's Hospital. During rescue drill Innes
was being lowered from the roof, when the rope broke, and he fell a distance of
about 20 feet.
