Two Foam Tenders were purchase in 1965.The
above appliances were replacements for units which had outlived useful service.
Equipment was fitted to all of the above appliances by Fire Service Workshops
personnel.
The Foam Tenders which were designed by Glasgow Fire Service include the latest
technique in foam production and were stated by the makers to be the most
versatile of special foam tenders in use in the British Fire Service to-day.
Each
Foam Tender carries 450 gallons of foam compound in an airtight tank and is
capable of a Produced Foam discharge of 6,400 gallons per minute or 72,000
gallons in 11 minutes without replenishing the tank supply. The system is so
designed that when the foam compound tank is empty further supplies can be drawn
into the system without interrupting the continuity of foam discharge.
