NORTH ASSET RESOURCE CENTRE
The North ARC is located at Claverhouse Industrial Estate, Dundee DD4 9UA. It was an Industrial Unit which SFRS converted into an ARC comprising of vehicle workshops, IT Section and property Section.
Maintaining the emergency fleet across North East Scotland
We have constructed a new Asset
Resource Centre for The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) in Dundee to
maintain the fleet of emergency vehicles throughout the north east of Scotland.
The project was led by hub East Central Scotland and constructed by Robertson
Tayside with architectural services provided by Gauldie Wright & Partners
Architects.
Keeping emergency vehicles ready at all times
The new facility was needed to meet
the geographical and logistical demands of keeping SFRS' northern fleet of HGV
and light vehicles serviced to the highest possible standard.
It will join forces with an existing centre in Inverness to ensure communities
are protected in times of emergency.
It will oversee the service and repair of 348 vehicles from across 164 stations
across the north of Scotland, including Shetland, ensuring the SFRS can respond
to emergencies whenever and wherever they arise.
A modern facility
The project comprised the conversion
of a 2040m2 single-storey light industrial unit to create modern workshops and
support facilities.
The workshop is fitted with seven vehicle inspection pits for fire engines,
three hydraulic lifts for light vehicles, a mechanical parts store and ancillary
rooms for remote works.
It represents a £3.75m investment in total that brings together 35 staff –
including experienced mechanics, and ICT and property specialists.
The new facility also includes offices, accommodation for ICT support functions,
a meeting room, welfare facilities and locker rooms.
