HAZMART SUPPORT UNIT

Originally this appliance was classed as an Environmental Protection Unit. Recently with the introduction of the new Hazmat operating procedures the appliance has been re-classed at a Hazmat Support Unit. The Unit will be mobilized on request or as part of the PDA for Level 3 incidents. As far as I am aware it will be staffed in the same manner as the EPU was in the antecedent Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.

There are also four Detection Investigation and Monitoring Units (DIM vehicles) located in the East, North (2) and West SDAs.

The DIM vehicles were supplied by the Scottish Government's Scottish Resilience Unit (New Dimension).
