When the new station at Wallyford opens Tranent will close as it will no longer be required. This will be a Community Fire Station. (May 2006)

In a partnership with HMCG the Fisherrow Coast Guard Rescue Team garage their vehicle at Mussleburgh Fire Station.(2008 L&B Performance Plan, Page 27) I don't know when it first moved there but it was still there 11/11/2021.

Musselburgh had a call sign of 53 in Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service, this was changed to J02, the new National Call Sign on 3/5/2017.

Ringing Out The Old At Musselburgh Fire Station

<Photo> Open appliance, F904USX and 6 crew.
Musselburgh Fire Station is preparing itself for the 1990s with a brand new advanced appliance which will help make the work of its crew faster and more efficient.
East Lothian’s only full-time fire station has come bang up-to-date with the new appliance which was handed over at a ceremony in Parliament Square, Edinburgh on Monday morning.
The local station was one of a group throughout Lothian and Borders to receive a new vehicle at the ceremony presided over by Lothian and Borders Fire Board chairman Councillor Bill Axon.
It marked another step forward for the board which, in planning for the 90s, has, over the last two years, successfully evaluated the new First Line appliances which have both a firefighting and rescue capability. This dual function is now to be offered to a greater percentage of the community through the board’s commitment of £425,000 for five more engines.
Because the Brigade’s mobilising system is based on predetermined attendance time, the provision of this equipment will give the firefighters the capability to deal with the rescue work, particularly at road traffic accidents where the attendance or other appliances would, at present be required.
New appliances are now being based at Crewe Toll, Livingston, Musselburgh, Sighthill, Dalkeith, Liberton, Hawick, Peebles, Kelso, West Linton, Haddington, Dunbar, Eyemouth and Linlithgow.
From past to present. The engine on the left, happily, is kept only for exhibition purposes by the men at Musselburgh Fire Station, who are now equipped with the latest firefighting appliance.
