The 1975 Brigades
In 1975 due to Local Government reorganisation the eleven Scottish Brigades were amalgamated into eight.
|Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service||Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service|
|Dumfries and Galloway Fire and Rescue Service||Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service|
|Fife Fire and Rescue Service||Strathclyde Fire & Rescue|
|Grampian Fire and Rescue Service||Tayside Fire and Rescue|
The 1975 Re-Organisation General
The Holroyd Report published Friday, 12th June, 1970 proposed that Scotland should have seven brigades instead of the present eleven. This didn't happen and as a result an 8th Brigade, Fife, was formed.
