RUSHBROOK TROPHY
Whitburn firemen ‘rescue’ the Rushbrook Trophy
A proud team of part time Whitburn
firemen have brought to West Lothian the Rushbrook Trophy for the first time in
nine years.
The team are: — Sub Officer J. Anderson, head of the “champion” team; and
firemen P. Imrie, J. McNaught, J. Joyce, J. Landels and D. Welsh.
The trophy was won in Edinburgh last Thursday when Whitburn, “champs” of West
Lothian, met North Berwick, “champions” of East Lothian,
The teams of five raced against the clock in a drill involving pumps and ladders
— Whitburn completed the exercise in 1 minute 57 seconds, only 13 seconds in
front of North Berwick.
The only other team from West
Lothian to win the coveted trophy, presented by Mr F. Rushbrook, a previous
Firemaster, was Broxburn.
Officer in charge, Mr Jim Anderson, said after the victory: “The men really
trained hard to win this. I’m sure they will try just as hard to keep it in West
Lothian next year.”
The team went through to the final after victory last month when they picked up
the West Lothian “B” Division efficiency and drill plaque.
