26/1/2016 Maddieston Control closed and control of all appliances in the legacy Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service area moved to the new combined Control Centre in Edinburgh.
M2AYF is the Home Office allocated Radio Call Sign for Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service's Control Room. Over the radio control call themselves AYF on all transmissions.
In 1948 calls were put through to wholetime stations by the GPO 999 operator who took the details and turned out the station's staff or if it was for an area covered by a retained station that they were the parent station for the Watchroom attendant would sound the Siren and Bells for the appropriate unit.
In 1964 the Area Control was situated in Meiklehill House, Kirkintilloch.

In 1991 Central Region Fire Brigade Control is located within Brigade Headquarters at Maddiston and is a self contained unit which operates independently of the Headquarters. Control Staff were:-

The Control Room at Madiston has three operator positions and a desk. Each position has three monitors, one with maps, one for putting in call details and mobilising appliances and one for taking calls and operating the radio system.

In November 1984 Control moved to the Headquarters at Maddison. In 1987 it moved across the passage and the old Control is now rest room.

Notes
There is a Secondary Control Unit at Falkirk Fire Station in case there is a system failure at Maddiston or the premises have to be evacuated.
