The unit was started as a result of a bad accident at Glenfalloch Road at Bridge 110 when a bus crashed onto the railway line and four children were killed.
On the 1st of April 2009 this unit was upgraded to Retained
Duty System.
On the 28the of May this unit's call sign was changed to S9.
In the Queen's Birthday Honours 12th June 2010 Watch Manager James Allardice was awarded the Queen's Fire Service Medal.
26/1/2016 was Station S9, New National Call Sign is M22.
